OYSADA

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) has commenced the distribution of 15,000 improved cocoa seedlings to farmers across the State.

The cocoa seedlings were provided by the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) and will help smallholder cocoa farmers achieve good production and secure their incomes.

In the first batch of distributions, 13 farmers received 400 seedlings each making a total of 5,200 seedlings.

The intervention builds on other similar OYSADA-facilitated, State government-support to protect the livelihoods and food security of smallholder farmers in Oyo State.

So far, about 30,000 crop and poultry farmers in the 33 LGAs and 35 LCDAs in the State have received agricultural stimulus and resilience packages of fertilizers, herbicides and climate-resilient seeds as part of the Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (CARES) and the Oyo State Covid-19 Response programmes.
